Setting Up Advanced Notifications for iOS

Enhancing the user experience for iOS device users and increasing Progressive Web App (PWA) installations, our Advanced iOS Notifications plugin offers a solution to overcome iOS limitations. While iOS doesn't prompt users for PWAs, our plugin enables notifications and guides users to add our web app to their home screen seamlessly.

Installation Process:

  1. Access Plugin Administration:
    After installing the plugin, navigate to Plugins administrator/index.php?option=com_plugins&view=plugin.

  2. Locate the Plugin:
    Search for "System - IOS Advanced Notifications PWA" and click on its title to access the plugin's backend.
  3. Activate Inline Help:
    Toggle "Inline Help" to access descriptive instructions for each setup parameter.
  4. Choose Templates:
    Select from three available templates:
     - Default (adjustable via PWA Plugin backend)
     - Template 1
     - Template 2
  5. Customize Appearance:
    Tailor colors and icons to align with your website's design.
  6. Configure Display Timing:
    Set the timing for when the notifications should appear, then save your settings.

Customizing Notification Texts

They are customizable via Language files.

First of all you must do that via Language Overrides:

  1. Navigate to Extensions -> Languages -> Language Overrides: administrator/index.php?option=com_languages&view=overrides.
  2. Create a New override.
  3. Search for constants like
    PLG_SYSTEM_IOSADVANCEDNOTIFICATIONSPWA_T1DESC (for Template 1) or
    PLG_SYSTEM_IOSADVANCEDNOTIFICATIONSPWA_T2DESC (for Template 2).
  4. Modify the text accordingly, where %s represents the images.

Updating Images:

  1. For Template 2, locate the PSD file named "add-to-homescreen-guide.psd" in the folder plg_system_iosadvancednotifications/assets/images.
  2. To add more "add to home screen" or share icons, upload them to either plg_system_iosadvancednotifications/assets/images/ats or plg_system_iosadvancednotifications/assets/images/share folders.
  3. These folders are located in your hosting's plugins/system/ directory.
